IMA Switzerland
invites you to an in-person simulation session with Professor Leif Sjöblom at the IMD Lausanne campus on 24 November @14hrs to 18hrs. This event will be followed by a networking apero outside the campus. Registration link will be released shortly. Meanwhile, mark your calendars as spots are limited.

Subject: Capital budgeting is typically taught as a pure and rational mathematical optimization exercise. However, in reality there are lots of considerations that are not easily captured by mathematical models. For example, many projects have embedded real options and multiple projects may have synergies and other interdependencies. In addition, there are always less rational biases and preferences for different projects. In this CPE simulation session, you will head the investment committee of a diversified company where you must consider several potential interdependent investments over several years. Your objective will be to optimize the portfolio of projects.

Pre-requisites: A basic understanding of discounted cash flow techniques (NPV, IRR). No calculations will be necessary.

Who should attend: Anyone directly or indirectly involved in capital investment decisions

Leif Sjöblom is Professor of Financial Management at IMD. Prior to joining IMD he worked in marketing and production in the telecommunications industry. He has 30 years of experience in executive education, working with several multinational companies in mature as well as emerging markets. Leif Sjöblom has a PhD in Business from Stanford University as well as degrees in engineering and law. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Fulbright fellow.
